Visitor Infrastructure Improvement Plan VIIP. Money is now available for specific plans which can be applied for. Expressions of interest must be submitted to CNPA by the end of May. Information is on the CNPA website. The meeting discussed the plethora of signage in Kingussie and it was suggested that this might be a project for VIIP funding. RO suggested CNPA might like to produce a sign for campervan aires which would be standard across the area. JK mentioned a previous banner project which is currently dormant. This might be a project for VIIP. JK to circulate info to meeting. Action JK

Highland Council report RJ

RJ discussed the 20mph blanket speed limits and the proposal by a member of Highland Council to scrap the system. Councillors on the whole are in agreement with 20mph.The meeting agreed with this. With consultation some areas may be changed to 30mph. KVCC to write in support of 20mph. Action JK

RJ has received a letter from a council officer asking for the correct pronunciation of our area. This is in anticipation of a film being made. The meeting agreed it is Badencoch and not Badenoch as in Kemi Badenoch.

Matters Arising

Burrell Fund

JK had circulated information from ian Moffett (IM) to all members. The meeting agreed that the endowment should be specifically for
Badenoch remembering that this includes Kincraig, Newtonmore, Laggan and Dalwhinne as well as Kingussie. Action JK to report back to IM.

Fire Management in the Cairngorm National Park

MB completed the survey on behalf of KVCC. RO thanked MB.

Men ‘s Shed RO

There have been three consultations to date and a trust is being set up by Colin Whitton and Andy Harper. The project Officer for Men’s Sheds will meet with the steering group and proposed trustees on 20th May .The work is going ahead well and at the moment the Folk Park has offered space on a temporary basis. Unfortunately the Scottish Government has pulled funding on this important initiative for Men’s Health. RJ is discussing possible funding with Highland Council.

Items of Business

Glebe Ponds Paving

Everything being equal the work on the paths should begin on 20th May. The paved space is very expensive. JK has approached the contractor at the Spey Street Junction to ask for the old paving to be diverted to the Glebe. This would save a considerable amount. The cut branches and scrub were removed last week by community volunteers. Thank you to all who came to help including members of the local Farmers and Crofters group.

Hanging Baskets JK

KVCC has agreed to pay for three baskets for the High Street. Action JK

Financing for Talla

JK outlined the e mail from ARC re funding financial support for a project in Talla. JK had sign posted three possible. RJ had also signposted options. The VIIP may be another option which will be advised. Action JK

Access

There have been issues recently around access to Platform 2 at the railway station for disabled travellers. It was greed to write to Scotrail Disabled Access Officer and Transport Scotland Action JK

Community Council Guidance and Info

The meeting agreed that more financial help would be of benefit.
