Purpose of meeting

KCDC and KVCC agreed to hold a joint meeting to discuss the previous local plan and to consider the upcoming one in September. When the previous plan was established (2018) not all local groups had been in attendance. The timetable for the next plan is for the process to begin in September.

Nethy Bridge has completed a comprehensive process with all local groups engaged. Start to finish of the process was three months.

Summary of discussion

The discussion raised the following questions

  • Does the business community in Kingussie realise the importance of the process?
  • How are hard to reach groups engaged?
  • Can KVCC facilitate gathering the groups including Highland Council and CNPA?

It was recognised that this is a valuable opportunity to engage with the wider community, creating ownership and the opportunity to be involved. Therefore, the questions asked and methods of collating feedback will be important.eg. Who are we in Kingussie, what are our values? Questions must be framed in plain English. Not only what people think is important, but also are they be willing to get involved?

It is important to share widely what has been achieved in recent years. A list of achievements should therefore be created and shared.

It was agreed that the success of One Kingussie could be the brand for the process.

Actions

  • KVCC to share the upcoming process with local community groups.
  • KVCC to arrange a meeting with said groups to share and gather info on what has been achieved to date.
  • KVCC to contact VABS re One Kingussie and establish a starting date for the process.
